Climb
Mount Munku-Sardyk (3,491 m)
Mount
Munuk-Sardyk offers the best opportunities for mountaineering in the Baikal
region. Huge mountains in the shape of a dense ring surround Lake Baikal.
Numerous mountain ranges and passes make mountaineering very popular among
tourists. We invite those who love high mountainous landscapes and want
to take part in real adventure to climb the highest point of Eastern Siberia:
Munku-Sardyk, which is located at 3491 meters above sea level. From the
summit you will be able to view Lake Hubsugul (Mongolia) and can admire
the unique beauty of the Eastern Sayan Mountains from the height of a
bird's flight.
Tour
programme:
1st
Day. Arrival in Irkutsk./Ulan Ude. After breakfast drive
to Bely Irkut River (300/600 km). Lunch en route. Overnight in tents.
Enjoy a friendly campfire followed by preparing equipment.
2nd
Day. After breakfast a trek from the valley of the Bely
Irkut river to the base camp location at 2000 m above sea level (about13
km). After lunch establish campsite. Overnight in tents.
3rd
Day. Training on the snow and ice slopes using climbing
equipment and elementary mountaineering techniques.
4th
Day. After breakfast climb Munku-Sardyk (3,491 m). From
the summit you will observe lake Khubsugul (Mongolia). The Russian-Mongolian
border is under our feet. Return to base camp (20 km). Dinner and overnight
in tents.
5th
Day. Return down to the Irkut river valley to be taken
by bus to Arshan mineral springs (about 150 km), where you will be accommodated
at a local hotel or homestay. You will visit the Tunkinsky National Park
with its mineral springs and sacred places. Visit to Russian Banya (sauna).
Festive dinner to celebrate your achievement.
6th
Day. After breakfast short trekking to mineral springs.
Depart to Irkutsk/Ulan Ude (230/450 km). Lunch en route. Accommodation
at hotel. Dinner at hotel.
7th
Day. Transfer to airport for departure after breakfast.
